Saltwater angling came next and by 1984 Worldwide Angers and its associates had a varied inventory of experiences I referred to as "the four points of the angler’s fly fishing compass." The "Four Points" included inshore saltwater fishing, offshore big game fly-rodding, anadromous fish (salmon, sea run browns and steelhead) and of course resident fresh water trout. In 2003, "a fifth point" was added: freshwater bass, and most especially, Peacock Bass in South America. Each offers its own unique blend of possibilities, excitement and challenges. We feel that these different kinds of angling offer a comprehensive collection of the best expressions of our sport.
The locations we choose for these types of angling are diverse and are scattered over the globe: British Columbia, New Zealand, Belize, Argentina, Alaska, Brazil, French Polynesia, Central America, Mexico, Russia, Africa, and so forth.
Our booking and cancellation policies are straightforward and are designed to provide you with every possible protection and advantage, but we always urge our clients to purchase trip cancellation policies. I believe in trip protection for one simple reason: After twenty-seven years in the business, I am convinced there is no perfect destination, because some components of your trip will always be beyond anyone’s ability to control. Such elements as the weather, the timing of the runs of wild fish, and seasonal variations in their population, unexpected changes in lodge management and staffing etc are unpredictable and will effect the best laid plans and the most carefully considered destination.
Our locations are always carefully evaluated and we know them well. If we do not, we say so, and then do the necessary research. In my experience some are relatively easy to fish and are well suited to the beginner and first time angling traveler. and some are challenging, even to the expert. Most are somewhere in the middle. The key to success lies in choosing what is best for you.
For the most part, our services are free to you, as we are paid by the lodges, guides and outfitters we represent. In cases where a group leader accompanies the anglers, you may pay a nominal fee.
Over the years Worldwide Angler’s professional relationships in the industry have also multiplied. These associations and resources are an important part of our business and we take them seriously because they too represent valuable, first hand experience. All of us are available to answer questions, provide honest evaluations, and advise anglers of all skill levels of the possibilities and potential of any type of angling and location.
This includes opinions and evaluations on clothing and equipment, best times, and the best angling techniques and strategies, including the latest "cutting edge" advances in equipment technologies and fishing perspectives. I suppose if I had to sum it up, I would say that it is no accident that our clients travel with the latest advances in angling technologies and many years of experience in their luggage.
I would also add something that I have believed for a long time: in the end, it is the angler’s job to know and define his or her fishing travel dreams. It is our job to help these dreams become a reality. In the best of moments it becomes a partnership, one we take seriously and one we always look forward to.
Welcome aboard!
